Dell E and E slim revealed and pricing information on Asus EeePC 901, 1000 and 1000H PDF Print E-mail

Nobody clearly knows what they are referred to as; some call them UMPCs, netbooks, sub-notebooks, etc which causes a lot of confusion. However, there definitely is no confusion about the impact Asus EeePC 701 had on the laptop industry. Many computer manufacturers are jumping on the bandwagon including the big guns like HP has mini-note, Dell announced it would release Dell-E (See below), Acer with Aspire One, MSI with Wind PC, Everex Cloudbook, to name a few. Asus announced EeePC 901, 1000 and 1000H which are a quick follow up to their recent release, EeePC 900.

 

Some specifications and pricing information:

- All systems to be powered by Intel Atom processors and Asus Super hybrid engine which helps control processor speeds to increase battery life up to 7.8 hrs.

- Available in both Windows XP and GNU/Linux versions.

- EeePC 901 will be 8.9", EeePC 1000 and 1000H will have 10" of screen size.

- EeePC 901 priced to be priced at $599 with Windows XP.

- 1000H to be priced at $649 and will be available with up to an 80GB HDD.

- 1000 to be priced at $699 and will be available with up to 40GB SSD.

- Asus will provide 20GB of online storage space to store media.

 

In addition to the pricing information on the EeePCs, the new Dell-E and E Slim were revealed today.

- Dell-E will have 8.9" screen size

- E-Slim will have 12.1" screen size with a thickness of 0.8".

- Variations in E models which include basic E, E video and E video+ with more RAM, hard disk space, Bluetooth, WIMAX, etc.

- Dell-E classic model would cost around just $299 which is the price of the "old" EeePC 701.

- Availability in August.

- Seems like Dell chose to refer to this laptop category as MID (Mobile Internet Device)
