Sir Allen Stanford, a Texan billionaire, has announced a cricket match that will award the winner of the match aroud $100 million with each player receiving around one million dollars. Although this move is a PR stunt for all intents and purposes, it focuses on re-igniting the passion for cricket among kids in Caribbean. England has signed a deal to play in the Caribbean most likely against West Indies. The match will be in the Twenty20 format which lasts about three to four hours. This new format is an ongoing effort by the cricketing organizations to reduce the length of the game and make it more enticing for the audience in the West especially USA. Basics about Twenty20 format: - Shortest form of cricket in terms of time. - 3 to 4 hours of duration. - 20 Overs (six balls per over) for each team. - First 5 overs are used as power play which means the fielding side is restricted. - A bowler may only be allowed to bowl a maximum of 4 overs per game.
